If you love the Myrtle Beach area, there is little difference in the Surfside Beach area. They are both found in the same county, but Surfside Beach is a much smaller town. However, that doesn’t mean that it is missing the things to do and places to go that you really want. There are stores, restaurants, bars, water parks, and even concert halls to enjoy when you visit this place.
Of course, if you decide you want to become a permanent resident, you will note that there are many vacant homes and condos at all times. That is because a great number of the housing is owned by people that don’t live in the city year-round. Instead, they may choose to rent out their houses, or visit during certain times of the year.
Regardless, there are still plenty of homes to purchase, if you aim to relocate, and they come in all sizes and price ranges. This area is known to be family friendly, so you don’t have to worry about the atmosphere in the city if you have kids. There are no schools in town, but there are ones located in nearby cities, so it isn’t too far to travel. There are only a few thousand residents, but with the sunny climate and fresh air to breathe at all times, you might not even notice because you are having so much fun.
Surfside Beach has been an official city since the 1960s. There weren’t many residents at the time, and there were virtually zero attractions. This is because around ten years earlier, a major hurricane damaged much of the area, leaving it in ruins. When the residents started to pick up the pieces and rebuild, an Air Force base also was constructed in the area. After the base was built in the late 50s, the city started to grow and become bigger each year. More and more city services were enacted until the town had a solid government and adequate roads. Now it is known as a beach that is perfect for families.
Surfside Beach, South Carolina is a small beach located on the same shoreline as Myrtle Beach. It is found in Horry County, which is in the easternmost area of the state. It is also nearby other areas, such as Murrells Inlet. The town itself is rather small, as it is situated on around 2 square feet of land and has approximately 4 thousand residents.
Surfside Beach has a subtropical climate, which means the area has hot, long summers, and short, mild winters. The climate is also rather humid, due to the fact that it is so close to the Atlantic Ocean. Furthermore, there are many sunny days each year and not very much rain. The town also has lower pollution rates than most and great air quality.
There are many types of shopping in this little town. If you want to find great clothes at discount prices, gardening supplies, or even furniture that fits into your home just right, there are plenty of places to buy it. There are also stores where you can purchase souvenirs and surfing supplies, which add to the charm of this place.
As with all beach towns, this one is full of seafood restaurants. There is also other fare to choose from, such as various American restaurants, places to get sushi, and lots of diners where you can get your favorite breakfast foods, even at lunchtime.
Getting a drink is convenient in Surfside Beach. There are a number of bars to choose from, some of which have different themes, and even a place to go bowling or play pool. This means you can stay entertained even after sundown or a relaxing day on the beach.
Since the city is rather small, there aren’t any schools that are found within the Surfside Beach city limits. However, children are able to attend schools that are located in nearby cities, such as Murrells Inlet or Myrtle Beach.
If you are interested in attending special events or one of a kind shows, there are many to choose from. You can catch a concert at The Grand Theatre, go to a water park, or even watch a special performance at locations throughout the city.
This town is a great beach town that is just right for family fun time, or for a more permanent option. It is close enough to Myrtle Beach if you need more amenities, but there are plenty of places to shop, eat, and be entertained without having to leave town. Besides that, there are many great properties to buy or rent, if you expect to be spending a lot of time in the area.
The weather is beautiful and the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful, so if you are someone that loves to swim or take advantage of other water sports, this is an underrated city that you won’t be sorry that you looked into.
